The Anglican Priests Eucharistic League

Prayers of the League

For the sanctification of the clergy

Antiphon: And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also may be sanctified through the truth [alleluia].

V. The Lord sware and will not repent [alleluia].
R. Thou art a Priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek [alleluia].

O God, by whose providence thine only-begotten Son was made an High Priest forever, that in him thy majesty might be glorified, and all men might find salvation: mercifully grant that so many as he hath called to be ministers and stewards of his mysteries [and more especially thy servants N & N] may ever be found faithful in their vocation and ministry; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Of the Most Blessed Sacrament

Antiphon: The Priests of the Lord do offer the offerings of the Lord made by fire and the Bread of their God [alleluia].

V. Therefore shall they be holy unto their God [alleluia].
R. And not profane the Name of their God [alleluia].

O Lord God Almighty, whose only Son hath made satisfaction for the sins of the whole world: quicken us, we beseech thee, by our oblation and communion of his Body and Blood, that we may become one with him in the charity which never faileth, and thereby bring forth the fruit which abideth for ever; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Of St Peter Julian Eymard

Antiphon: He consecrated him to execute the office of the priesthood, to bless the people in his Name, and to offer sacrifices to the Lord, incense, and a sweet savour [alleluia].

V. O taste, and see, how gracious the Lord is [alleluia].
R. Blessed is the man that trusteth in him [alleluia].

O God, who didst raise up St Peter Julian to promote everywhere the solemn worship of the Most Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist: grant, we beseech thee, that by his intercession and example, we may become adorers in spirit and in truth of so great a Mystery and evangelists of the glory of the same; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Of Blessed James De Koven

Antiphon: Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain [alleluia].

V. Let the priest be holy [alleluia].
R. For I the Lord which sanctify you am holy [alleluia].

Almighty and everlasting God, the source and perfection of all virtues, who didst inspire thy servant Blessed James De Koven to do what is right and to preach what is true: grant that all ministers and stewards of thy mysteries may afford to thy faithful people, by word and example, the instruction which is of thy grace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
