Masses of Saint Mary on Saturday
Which May Also Be Said on Other Days as Votive Masses, in Accordance with the Rubrics

NOTE: That the Prayers are sung to the ferial tone unless the Mass be a privileged Votive (see Ribrics on page G1), for which reason the pointings of the Prayers should be disregarded in all Votives of simple rite, but on Saturdays Gloria in excelsis is isaid.

II. After Epiphany

From the Octave of Epiphany, or in Votive Masses from December 26 until February 1, inclusive.

INTROIT

Vultum tuum.  Psalm 45.

The rich among the people
Shall make their supplications before thee:
The Virgins that be her fellows shall be her company:
And shall be brought unto thee with joy and gladness.   §

My heart is inditing of a good matter:
I speak of the things which I have made unto the King.
Glory be ...
As it was ...

COLLECT

O God, who by the child-bearing of a pure Virgin hast bestowed upon all mankind the rewards of everlasting life: grant, we beseech thee; that we may know the succor of her intercession, through whom we have been found worthy to receive the author of life, even Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, who lliveth and reigneth with thee.

COLLECT 2, of the Holy Ghost; 3 for the Church, according to the Rubrics.

THE LESSON

Titus 3.4 – 7

Dearly Beloved: the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,  Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;  That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life: in Christ Jesus our Lord.

GRADUAL

(Psalm 45) Thou art fairer than the children of men:
Full of grace are thy lips.
My heart is inditing of a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made unto the King.
My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

ALLELUIA

Alleluia,
Alleluia.
After child-bearing thou remainedst a pure Virgin:
Mother of God, intercede for us.
All:        Alleluia.

After Septuagesmia, instead of the Alleluia, and verse following, is said:

TRACT

Rejoice, O Mary, thou alone all heresy dost slay.
Thou the Archangel Gabriel's message didst obey.
He who is God and man was born thy son: yet art thou still a maid, O spotless One.
Mother of God, intercede for us.

THE GOSPEL

St. Luke 2.15 – 20

At that time: The shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.  And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

OFFERTORY

Blessed art thou, O holy Virgin Mary, and most worthy of all praise: for out of thee arose the Sun of righteousness, Christ our God.

SECRET

We beseech thee, O Lord, that by the bountiful goodness of thy mercy and by the intercession of blessed Mary Ever-Virgin these our oblations may be acceptable in thy sight: that we being delivered in this present life from all adversities, may obtain in that which is to come peace everlasting.  Through.

SECRET 2, of the Holy Ghost; 3 for the Church, according to the Rubrics.

PREFACE of Our Lady  And that in the Veneration.

COMMUNION

Blessed is the womb of the Virgin Mary, that bore the Son of the everlasting Father.

POSTCOMMUNION

Grant, O Lord, we pray thee, that this holy Communion may cleanse us from every guilty stain: and at the intercession of the blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, may be our healing unto life eternal.  Through the same.

POSTCOMMUNION 2, of the Holy Ghost; 3 for the Church, according to the Rubrics.
