Double
Rubric from All Souls' Day, November 2:
§ On All Souls Day any priest may celebrate three Masses, in accordance with the Rubrics on November 2nd . The following Mass shall be said as the first Mass, and by any Priest who celebrates one Mass only, or who celebrates with chant. In the latter case, he may anticipate the 2nd and 3rd Masses.
From Masses for the Dead:
§ On All Souls' Day any Priest may celebrate three Masses, in accordance with the Rubric on November 2nd. The following Mass shall be said as the first Mass, and by any Priest who celebrates one Mass only, or who celebrates with chant. In the latter case he may anticipate the 2nd and 3rd Masses.
§At the first and second Mass, if the Priest be about to
celebrate another Mass, when he has consumed the Precious Blood, he does not
purify nor cleanse the Chalice, but places it on the Corporal, and covers it
with the Pall; then, with hands joined, he says in the midst of the Altar: Grant
that we have received with the mouth, O Lord, etc., and then he washes his
fingers in a vessel of water, saying: May thy Flesh which I have taken, etc.,
and thus he cleanses them. And when he has so done, he removes the Pall
and again places the Chalice on the Corporal and covers it, according to custom,
first with the linen Purificator, then with the Paten on which is the Host to be
consecrated, and lastly with the Pall and the Veil. And a Chalice which
has thus remained on the Altar from a former Mass is never set down anywhere
except on the Corporal, nor is it wiped with a Purificator, until after the
Ablutions are made, for which reason at the Offertory it is moved toward the
Epistle side of the Corporal, and then the Host is offered in the accustomed
manner. Afterwards the Chalice is prepared (the Priest slightly raising it
and pouring in the water and wine, taking care not to splash the sides thereof)
without removing it beyond the Corporal, nor wiping it, and then it is offered
in the accustomed manner.

Rest eternal grant unto them, O Lord:
And let light perpetual shine upon them. §
(Psalm 65) Thou, O God, art praised in Sion,
And unto thee shall the vow be performed in Jerusalem
Thou that hearest the prayer,
Unto thee shall all flesh come.
(Repeat to §.)
THE COLLECT
O the Creator and Redeemer of all them that believe: grant unto the souls of
thy servants and handmaidens the remission of all their sins; and as they have
ever desired thy merciful pardon, so by the supplications f
their brethren they may receive the same. Who livest and reignest with the
Father in the unity of the Holy Ghost ever one God.
THE LESSON
1 Cor. 15.51 - 57
BEHOLD, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
GRADUAL
Rest eternal grant unto them, O Lord:
And let light perpetual shine upon them.
(Psalm 112) The righteous shall be had in everlasting
remembrance:
He will not be afraid of any evil tidings.
TRACT
Absolve, O Lord, the souls of all faithful departed
From all the chains of their sins.
That by the succour of thy grace they may be found worthy
to escape the avenging judgement.
And enjoy the bliss of everlasting light.
SEQUENCE Dies Irae.
DAY of wrath, and doom impending,
David's word with Sibyl's blending
Heaven and earth in ashes ending.
O what fear man's bosom rendeth,
When from heaven the Judge descendeth,
On whose sentence all dependeth!
Wondrous sound the trumpet flingeth,
Through earth's sepulchres it ringeth,
All before the throne it bringeth.
Death is struck, and nature quaking,
All creation is awaking,
To its Judge an answer making.
Lo! The book exactly worded,
Wherein all hath been recorded,
Thence shall judgment be awarded.
When the Judge his seat attaineth,
And each hidden deed arraigneth,
Nothing unavenged remaineth.
What shall I, frail man, be pleading?
Who for me be interceding
When the just are mercy needing?
King of majesty tremendous,
Who dost free salvation send us,
Fount of pity, then befriend us.
Think, kind Jesu, my salvation,
Caused thy wondrous Incarnation,
Leave me not to reprobation.
Faint and weary thou hast sought me,
On the Cross of suffering bought me,
Shall such grace be vainly brought me?
Righteous Judge! For sin's pollution
Grant thy gift of absolution
Ere that day of retribution.
Guilty, now I pour my moaning,
All my shame with anguish owning:
Spare, O God, thy suppliant groaning.
Through the sinful woman shriven,
Through the dying thief forgiven,
Thou to me a hope hast given.
Worthless are my tears and sighing:
Yet, good Lord, in grace complying
Rescue me from fires undying.
With thy sheep a place provide me,
From the goats afar divide me,
To thy right hand do thou guide me.
When the wicked are confounded,
Doomed to flames of woe unbounded,
Call me, with thy Saints surrounded.
Low I kneel with heart-submission:
See, like ashes my contrition!
Help me in my last condition!
Ah that day of tears and mourning!
From the dust of earth returning,
Man for judgment must prepare him.
Spare, O God, in mercy spare him:
Lord all-pitying, Jesu blest,
Grant them thine eternal rest. Amen.
THE GOSPEL
St. John 5.25 - 29
AT that time: Jesus said unto the multitude of the Jews: Verily, verily, I
say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice
of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. For as the Father hath life in
himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; And hath given him
authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man. Marvel not at
this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear
his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection
of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
OFFERTORY
O Lord Jesus Christ, King of glory, deliver the souls of all the faithful departed from the pains of hell, and from the bottomless pit: deliver them from the lion's mouth, that hell not swallow them up, that they fall not into darkness: but let Michael the standard-bearer bring them into the holy light: Which thou didst promise of old unto Abraham, and his seed. We offer thee, O Lord, this sacrifice of prayer and praise: do thou receive it for the souls whose memory we this day recall: make them, O Lord, to pass from death unto life. Which thou didst promise of old unto Abraham and his seed.
SECRET
WE beseech thee, O Lord, mercifully to regard these our oblations, which we
offer unto thee for the souls of thy servants and handmaidens: that like as thou
didst grant them grace to believe the true faith of thy holy Name; so they may
obtain of thee the reward of everlasting life. Through Christ our Lord.
PREFACE of the Dead
COMMUNION
LET light eternal shine upon them, O Lord: With thy saints for evermore: for thou art gracious. Rest eternal grant unto them, O Lord: and let light perpetual shine upon them. With thy Saints for evermore: for thou art gracious.
POSTCOMMUNION
GRANT, O Lord, we pray thee, that our supplications may be acceptable in thy
sight: that the souls of thy servants and handmaidens, being delivered from all
their sins, may be made partakers of thy heavenly redemption. Who livest and
reignest with the Father.
After The Lord be with you
shall be said: May they rest in peace. R/. Amen. And the blessing
shall not be given: but Let this my bounden duty and service being said,
and the Altar kissed, the Gospel of St. John: In the beginning was the Word,
shall be read, as usual.

THE LESSON
II Maccabees 12.43 - 45
IN THOSE DAYS: The noble Judas made a gathering throughout the company to the
sum of two thousand drachms of silver, he sent it to Jerusalem to offer a sin
offering, doing therein very well and honestly, in that he was mindful of the
resurrection: For if he had not hoped that they that were slain should have
risen again, it had been superfluous and vain to pray for the dead. And
also in that he perceived that there was great favour laid up for those that
died godly, it was an holy and good thought. Whereupon he made a reconciliation
for the dead, that they might be delivered from sin.

St. John 6.37 - 40
AT that time: Jesus said unto the multitude of the Jews: All that the Father
giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast
out. For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him
that sent me. And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all
which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at
the last day. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which
seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise
him up at the last day.

§ At the second and third Mass, the Priest, if he have
celebrated the first Mass, when he comes to the Offertory, removes the Veil from
the Chalice, and places the latter towards the Epistle corner, but not beyond
the Corporal; and when he has offered the Host, he does not cleanse the Chalice
with the Purificator, but leaving it upon the Corporal, raises it a little, and
pours wine and water into it carefully; and then he offers the Chalice, in the
accustomed manner. although it has not been entirely cleansed.

life; and I will raise him up at the last day
